As per a recent study conducted by Queensland University, Australia, people who are dating online are likely to date those only who are from same level of education as them. Research also found that the people with more age care less about an intellectual match as they get older.
The study revealed that more educated people bother less about matching same level of education as they get older.
The study also indicated that there is a difference in the way in which men and women look at education level in their potential partner. It also reveals that this also changes depending on the life stage of the participants.
Stephen Whyte, behavioral economists from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, “Older women in particular have a greater likelihood of contacting potential partners who are less educated than themselves but conversely, younger males fall into this category as well.”
Generally, humans look for certain characteristics and traits in a partner. However, the internet has completely changed the pattern how the people choose dating partner to find their true love.
Whyte further added, “cyber dating permits multiple partner choices in real time, which allows for a significantly greater available choice of potential mates. This increased pool means greater opportunity for selection of partners with lower, similar or even higher levels of certain characteristics.”
This also includes education, which is generally used in human mating behavior as a proxy for resources and future provision as it can represent economic advantages. The team of researchers analyzed online interactions of more than 41,000 Australians aged between 18-80.
